Court sets Nov 23 for appeal against Anwar's sodomy II acquittal

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has set Nov 23 for case management of the appeal by the prosecution against the acquittal of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for sodomy as record of appeal is still incomplete.
Deputy Registrar N.Kanageswari fixed the date after meeting the parties in chambers on Friday.
Ramkarpal Singh, for Anwar, told reporters later that the parties were told that the record of appeal was incomplete due to the notes of the proceedings that were incomplete.
"The parties require time to go through the CDs (on the notes of evidence) before the date can be fixed for a trial.
"The court has given time to sort CDs on notes of proceedings," added Ramkarpal here.
The prosecution has stated nine grounds in the petition of appeal to set aside Anwar's acquittal.
Anwar was acquitted by the High Court on Jan 9 for allegedly sodomising Mohd Saiful, his former aide, at a condominium in Bukit Damansara on June 26, 2008. - Star
