In Pahang, Najib asks voters for full backing

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today he hoped that the people of Pahang would continue to give their undivided support to his leadership and efforts to bring about a change in the country.

“If the support is not wholehearted, then without a strong mandate the government cannot convince the people to do what is necessary for the good of the country.

“We are able to see of late the change being brought about through the GTP (Government Transformation Programme), the ETP (Economic Transformation Programme) and various other initiatives, including the listing of Felda Global Ventures (Holdings Bhd) which was the second biggest IPO in the world (this year),” he said.

Najib spoke to more than 2,000 people of Pahang who live in this city at an Aidilfitri open house organised by the Welfare Association of the Pahang-born Residents of Kuala Lumpur, here.

The prime minister said he was convinced that the people of Pahang would enjoy more benefits if they continued to help one another.

He said the development of the Kuantan port, which had entered the next phase, and the provision of an industrial site at the port would bring more meaningful progress and development to the people of Pahang.

At the event, Najib handed over goodie bags to orphans and the physically and mentally challenged.

Earlier, Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, attended the Khazanah Nasional Aidilfitri open house at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. — Bernama
