Object to anti-Islam film, caricatures through peaceful means, urges PM Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the anti-Islam film, “Innocence of Muslims”, and the publication of caricatures which ridiculed Prophet Muhammad in the French magazine, Charlie Hebdo, were an insult to Muslims and should be condemned by leaders worldwide.
He said the film and caricatures had upset the feelings of Muslims.
“Charlie Hebdo might not have breached French law in publishing the caricatures, but we question his ethical judgement,” he said in his latest entry in his 1 Malaysia blog.
Najib (picture) said the production of the film had created further provocation at a time when tensions were already running high.
He urged Muslims to remain peaceful and not resort to violence as a means of showing dissatisfaction.
“Now, more than ever, we should work together for greater respect, tolerance and understanding so we may live in peace and harmony.
“This is why, here in Malaysia, we have invited people of all faiths to join us in forming a Global Movement of the Moderates,” he added.
