PAC to study govt disbursements to NFC

The parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will place the disbursements of government funds to the controversial National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) under its microscope, when it meets again next week.

NONEPAC chairperson Azmi Khalid (right) said: "We will look at how government funds is transferred to (the) NFC.

“Whether it (process of disbursements) follow procedures, and the (loan) agreement”.

Speaking to reporters when met in Parliament House after chairing the PAC’s meeting today, Azmi said that the committee is only interested in looking at how RM250 million of public funds in the form of a soft loan was disbursed.

"We are not interested in how NFC went about spending the money, which is currently part of court proceedings”.

He related that today's meeting is with National Audit Department officers, who presented a special audit of the NFC loan based on their two-month investigation.

Azmi said that the PAC has looked at the special report and have asked the auditors to go back and look into several areas more thoroughly, although he declined to comment on details.

NONEThe permanent parliamentary committee began to look into allegations of abuse and mismanagement in the company, which is owned and operated by the family of former federal minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, after irregularities pointed out in the last Auditor-General's audit report and following a campaign highlighting the matter by the Opposition party, caused public outcry.
