Whistleblower group National Felda Children's Association (ANAK) has given assurance that its rally tomorrow at the Felda headoffice in Kuala Lumpur would be peaceful.
ANAK chairman Mazlan Aliman said the rally, dubbed 'Orange Gathering to Save Felda', was to hand over the group's memorandum to Felda chairman Isa Abdul Samad.
Mazlan said some 300 members of PAS's welfare brigade, the Unit Amal, would be present for crowd control measures.
"Let there be no provocation from any quarters. If there is, it will not be from among us," said Mazlan, who added that he had received information that certain groups were also planning to gather near Jalan Semarak while donning ANAK's orange shirts.
The rally is expected to be ANAK's largest gathering todate as part of its ongoing campaign to highlight abuses by Felda's top management. The group has been opposing Felda's controversial listing at the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange and campaigning to remove Isa citing financial abuses and violations of cooperative laws.
ANAK's nationwide roadshow ended in violence on Sunday when its convoy was hounded by a rowdy mob believed to be UMNO supporters, who blocked entrance to a Felda settlement in Negeri Sembilan. Similar scenes were also reported in Perak and Pahang earlier.
Mazlan said tomorrow's rally which begins after the Friday congregational prayer could be smoother if Isa came in person to receive the memorandum.
The rally among others calls for Isa's immediate resignation as Felda chairman, and the return of lands under Felda Plantation to settlers. It also wants the land authority to stop all dealings with Israeli companies, following revelations that tonnes of palm oil had been exported to the Zionist state.
