BN Confident Of Two-Thirds Majority - Najib

BN Confident Of Two-Thirds Majority - Najib
KUALA LUMPUR, -- Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident of achieving a two-thirds majority in the coming general election.
The prime minister, who is also Umno president, said that BN, the ruling coalition of which Umno is a key member, would spare no effort to attain that goal.
"That is our target, to achieve a two-thirds majority, and we will go all out to achieve that," he told a press conference after delivering his winding-up speech at the concluding session of the Umno General Assembly 2012, here Saturday.
Najib expressed confidence that the momentum generated by the assembly and party spirit could be sustained until the election.
"The momentum is good and I'm sure, I'm quite confident they (the Umno delegates) will take back with them the spirit of this assembly...the mood of the whole assembly has been very energising," he said, adding that Umno was battle-ready.
Asked how Umno would tackle sabotage within the party, Najib said he was confident that Umno members would be rational and would not destroy the party if they truly loved Umno.
"If in their hearts they love Umno and in their mind they know that such an action can destroy the party, and destroy them too, I believe they will act rationally," he said.
In his winding up speech, Najib posed a question to test the level of preparedness of the Umno members to support the party if they were not selected as candidates in the 13th general election.
Five possibilities were offered by him to answer the question which was full of messages -- support fully the candidate selected by the party; support; don't work; sabotage; or defect to another party.
In his speech, he quoted the case of a minister and deputy minister who sabotaged the party as they were crazy for power after they were no longer given any post.
