The PKR delegation to expose dealings of alleged dirty money from the awarding of logging concessions by Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman will fly to Hong Kong on Tuesday with more 'revelations".
This time the delegation, led by PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli, will be armed with further documentary proof of the dealings to hand over to Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), hoping for resumption of the probe into the case.
The "evidence" include details of bank accounts and their transactions, including a list of companies involved in the alleged dealings, he said.
Rafizi (right) will be accompanied by party treasurer and Selayang MP William Leong, Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian and Teja assemblyperson Chang Lih Kang.
"We want to show the Hong Kong ICAC the link between a businessman, who made the RM40 million contribution, and the Sabah CM," said Rafizi, in Penang last night.
"We are going to show the documents which include various accounts belonging to Musa in Hong Kong," he added, at a DAP organised forum titled 'Whistleblowers vs Corruption'.
On stage, Rafizi was accompanied by PKR veep and Batu MP Tian Chua and Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi, while state DAP chief Chow Kong Yeow launched the forum.
Musa mulling legal action
Rafizi, an accountant by training, said this despite an ICAC letter stating that it would not conduct further investigations against Musa.
Sabah BN secretary Abdul Rahman Dahlan via an interview with news portal Malaysian Insider had warned that Musa is mulling legal action against Rafizi based on the letter.
Abdul Rahman (left), also the Kota Belud MP, alleged that Rafizi may have committed defamation (against Musa) as well as alleged breach of Section 29(4) of the MACC Act 2009 which protects the identity of an accused.
Regardless, Rafizi said his team has scheduled a meeting with the ICAC's top investigators for Wednesday morning (Dec 12) to submit the "evidence".
He added that he was "very confident" that the documents - once studied by the investigators - the case would be reopened as it would be the island's parliamentarians who will push the ICAC in that direction.
"This case has great implications for Hong Kong as one of the world's leading financial centres," he told a hall packed with DAP supporters at the Penang Chinese Town Hall.
"We were asked to provide bank statements and details of accounts because the parliamentarians are also suspicious of the RM40million. They cannot believe that it is merely donations," he added.
Thanks due to whistleblowers
Rafizi reported that in the last three weeks, since returning from Hong Kong on Nov 23, his team had been busy collecting documents, obtained with the efforts of several whistleblowers.
These informers, he added, had approached him on the quiet via the organisation he initiated - National Oversight and Whistleblowers Centre (NOW) - to hand over letters, bank statements and detail of companies allegedly involving Musa.
These documents have yet to be submitted to the ICAC in the last visit in November, where PKR leaders had met with three members of the Security Panel of the Legislative Council.
These individuals are like member of parliaments or legislators, with the ICAC falling under their purview.
The three - James To, who is the vice-chairperson of the panel along with members Leung Kwok Hung and Raymond Wong - helped arrange a meeting with ICAC's acting chief investigator Martin Chan Chee Hwa.
"We are now collecting information regarding the activities of these companies and the activities of Musa's business associate (Michael Chia) in Hong Kong," said Rafizi.
"We are doing this so that the focus would be on the offence committed there.

Rafizi was referring to Prime Minister Najib Razak (right) who may be subpoenaed to testify in a Paris court over alleged illegal commissions paid by French shipyard builder DCNS to top Malaysian officials.The commissions allegedly involved Malaysia's RM7.3 billion deal inked in 2002 for the purchase of two Scorpene class submarines, while Najib, who was then defence minister, has denied any links.

DeleteTidak banyak isu yang boleh digunakan oleh PKR dan Pakatan Rakyat untuk menghentam Musa Aman. Walaupun terdapat isu-isu seperti pemimpin-pemimpin tak ada gigi melompat parti, ianya juga bukanlah isu besar, memandangkan pemimpin-pemimpin berkenaan terdiri daripada mereka yang sememangnya bermasalah dan tidak lagi dikehendaki oleh rakyat sebagai wakil mereka, sama ada di Parlimen, mahupun di Dewan Undangan Negeri.

ReplyDeleteBukan main lagi sembang PKR dan Rafizi Ramli tentang Scorpene sehingga timbul cerita kononnya, mahkamah Perancis akan mengadakan perbicaraan berhubung pembelian kedua-dua buah kapal selam berkenaan. Namun akhirnya, kebenaran terbukti yang kerajaan dan pihak berkuasa Perancis tidak melayan pun pembohongan Anwar Ibrahim dan PKR. Bahkan perbicaraan yang dikatakan akan diadakan itu, langsung tidak wujud.
ReplyDeleteBiarpun SUARAM dan Anwar Ibrahim berulang-ulang kali menekankan bahawa memang ada perbicaraan di Mahkamah Perancis dengan menyebut Najib Abdul Razak serta Zahid Hamidi merupakan antara yang akan disapina untuk memberi keterangan, namun cerita sebenar sudahpun diketahui. PKR dan SUARAM ternyata adalah pembohong besar.
ReplyDeleteKali ini, perkara yang sama juga berlaku melibatkan RM40 juta dari Hong Kong yang digunakan untuk acara politik UMNO Sabah. Bersungguh-sungguh benarlah Rafizi Ramli dan PKR untuk membina persepsi bahawa mereka telah berjaya membuktikan bahawa wang tersebut adalah wang rasuah UMNO Sabah atau lebih tepat lagi, Ketua Menteri Sabah (setaraf dengan tuduhan Anwar Ibrahim yang makan duit daripada agen-agen luar negara).
ReplyDeleteYang pastinya, penipuan ala-ala Scorpene akan berulang dalam kes ini. Buktinya, pada ketika PKR menyatakan bahawa mahkamah Hong Kong akan membicarakan kes tersebut, ahli perniagaan balak Michael Chia dibebaskan tanpa sebarang pendakwaan. PKR menerusi mulut Rafizi Ramli menyatakan bahawa kes tersebut dibubarkan ekoran tiada sebarang kerjasama daripada Kerajaan Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteWalhal secara logiknya, kes tersebut berlaku di Hong Kong dan Kerajaan Malaysia tidak mempunyai sebarang kuasa di Hong Kong sama ada untuk mempengaruhi keputusan mahkamah atau perundangan, apatah lagi menyelamatkan Michael Chia daripada didakwa.
ReplyDeleteMalah pegawai-pegawai ICAC sendiri pernah datang ke Sabah untuk melengkapkan siasatan mereka selama sebulan, namun hasil siasatan tetap tidak menemui sebarang petunjuk bahawa wujud unsur-unsur rasuah dalam kes berkenaan.
ReplyDeleteRafizi Ramli akan tetap menggunakan modal kononnya kempen sedang dijalankan untuk mempengaruhi badan perundangan Hong Kong untuk membuka semula kertas siasatan, kononnya untuk menjaga imej badan anti rasuah Hong Kong, ICAC agar tidak dimalukan kerana tidak menyiasat dan membicarakan kes yang dikatakan oleh Rafizi Ramli sebagai rasuah.

DeleteMalaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abu Kassim Mohamed has appealed to politicians from all parties not to "shoot the MACC from behind", a tendency which he said, would only make it even more difficult to fight corruption.

On the back of the highly successful Umno General Assembly, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called a press conference Monday with the sole purpose of undermining the event.
ReplyDeleteHe reportedly "turned up his nose" at Umno's renewed confidence saying the Umno leadership cannot accurately assess grassroots support by "staying in 5-star hotels, spending time in lounges and smoking expensive cigars".
DeleteWhat hypocrisy! For Air Miles Anwar to chide others about five star hotels is the pot calling the kettle black.
DeleteBut he continued: "There is a clear disconnect between the rich, multimillionaire Umno leaders and the masses on the ground."
By "masses" Anwar is referring to ordinary hard-working Malaysians who he wouldn't recognise if they knocked him over. By way of contrast, Umno President and PM Datuk Seri Najib Razak regularly talks to the so-called masses during his walkabouts, as well as on Facebook, Twitter and through his 1Malaysia website, where ordinary people this year told him what they wanted to see in the budget. So much for Anwar's alleged disconnect.
DeleteBut then came the cherry on the pie: "So I am not in the least bit worried. They see us in PR and me as a big threat. They are in fear that there is a giant dragon lying in wait to destroy them," he said.
DeletePresumably it is himself he has cast as the dragon, despite the fact that there are swathes of his own coalition that don't even want him for PM. A large chunk of PAS thinks Abdul Hadi Awang can breathe more fire than Anwar.

Those numbers would suggest the Government is not too worried about dragons lying in wait.
DeleteChow's admission totally undermines Anwar's attempt to refute BN's conference success and reminds us once again of Pakatan's total inability to stick to a common theme. And if it can't stick to an agreed line on the Umno GA how can it stick to common policies?
Contrast this with the Umno GA where there was no sniping, no leaking of negative stories and nothing but positive energy and unity.
DeleteIf Anwar was a real leader he would be on the phone to Chow in a flash and tear into him for his cowardly admission of defeat. But Anwar shouldn't bother asking Chow why he made his remarks, because there was a clue hidden in his press statement.

DeleteThe order of Chow's words tells us everything we need to know. Faced with defeat federally, his ultimate goal is to hang onto DAP's crown jewels, Penang. This is exactly what PKR is doing in Selangor. Having quietly admitted defeat on the national stage, it is now only focussed on keeping its state rule, hence Azmin Ali's total obsession with the Selangor Menteri Besar's job.
DeleteAnwar looks more like a lizard than a dragon, or, given his flip-flopping past, a chameleon. His tough guy press conference makes him look misguided and will do nothing to take the gloss of a triumphant week for Najib and Umno.
