Are there NO competent Indians in M'sia? Why should Mah oversee Hindu board, Najib slammed
Penang Hindu Endowment Board chairman P Ramasamy says it is an insult to appoint newly-minted minister Mah Siew Keong to oversee the national Hindu Endowment Board.
"What an insult to Hindus! You mean to say that there are no capable Indians to look after this portfolio?" asked Ramasamy, who is also Penang deputy chief minister II.
"Why not pass it to MIC leaders? By doing this, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has insulted Indians in the county. What a shame!" Ramasamy added.
Mah, who is Gerakan president and was recently appointed as a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, is reportedly overseeing not only the Hindu board but hawkers’ associations as well, among other duties.
Mah, 53, captured the Teluk Intan seat with a wafer-thin majority of 238 from DAP's Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, 27, in the May 29 polls.

After last year’s general election, Najib appointed Persatuan Hindraf Malaysia (PWM) chairperson P Waythamoorthy as a senator and a deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department to oversee Hindu affairs.
Waythamoorthy resigned from his post after eight months, inabililty to work with Najib to implement even one item in PWM’s blueprint Najib that endorsed in April last year.
If Waythamoorthy, who is familiar with problems afflicting the Indian community and left his job in a huff and puff, what hope was there for Mah to perform, Ramasamy asked.

He said it was more important for Najib to implement every item in the 18-point blueprint presented by PWM, which Najib had endorsed to "trick" the group into supporting BN, just before the 13th general election.
"The Indian community wants concrete plans and implementation, not some minister for window dressing!" Ramasamy added. -M'kini
