BASKET CASE UMNO! Bungling & 'lower-life form' Bung now typifies the influential there
The World Cup 2014 is over and the winner declared. It is time for the winner to celebrate and savor the respect, admiration and joy of the fans all over the world.
But for Malaysia, although it did not take part in the World Cup 2014, there is a sense of crying shame and agony worse than the humiliation suffered by host nation Brazil in their 7-1 thrashing by Germany.
This is because of a tweet hailing the evil Adolf Hitler for the Germans victory over Brazil by non other than the culprit once again being Member of Parliament for Kinabatangan, Bung Mokthar.
The era of Hitler's reign is a dark past of Germany which the European nation wants to erase and forget owing to the great pain and misery the dictator had caused the country.
Bung Mokthar, better known as Bungling Mokthar, once again shot himself in the foot with his tweet.
The MP for Kinabatangan has in the past caused similar reactions of hate and contempt for him by issuing offensive remarks, sexist statements and degrading the fairer sex and trying to show women as inferior or weak.
How this lower form of life can be a politician beggars belief?
He is absolutely boorish and atrocious and craves for cheap publicity not knowing that he is being famous for all the wrong reasons.
Not only does this attention-seeker rile up people but he seems to put his foot in his mouth all the time that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government should best dispense with him to save Malaysia from any further embarrassment or shame.
Spare us Malaysians the agony of having to put up with this imbecile and censor him for good or risk incurring further the wrath of people.
But the specter of this drama created by "Bungling Mokthar" goes to show glaringly and very obviously that the BN government is led by politicians of poor and distasteful quality.
The kind of behavior that a significant number of BN leaders show goes to verify that they are not fit to lead and command the respect or love of the rakyat and these are the reasons why the BN government of Malaysia cannot take the nation forward.
Political leaders 'make or break' a nation
The greatness of a nation hinges entirely on the quality and ability of its leaders. A nation is only as good as its leaders.
While the Atlantic powers, the United States and Western Europe, have long produced leaders and statesmen of world stature to move their nations forward, in this country leaders bring shame and earn condemnation easily.
Even today it is inspiring and motivating to witness the leadership qualities of world leaders such as Barack Obama as president of the United States, Xi Jinping as president of China, Narenda Modi, the prime minister of India and Singapore premier Lee Hsien Loong.
These are undoubtedly great leaders that will go down in history for the way they play by the rules of the game and their spirit and nature. In the murky world of politics, BN leaders should learn to emulate the leadership style and skills of these statesmen.
Malaysia started well with Merdeka or Independence in 1957 with Tunku Abdul Rahman a great leader who was fearless and courageous in his quest to obtain freedom for the nation from the British colonialists.
But somehow, after wresting Independence from the British and the premature exit of the Tunku as the paramount leader, subsequent Malaysian prime ministers have been mediocre and produced mixed fortunes for the country.
The leadership qualities which the Tunku possessed could possibly be attributed to him having been greatly influenced by British traits. It was easily seen that many of the Tunku's beliefs, convictions and principles were strong depictions of the values of the British.
But after the Tunku was forced to step down as prime minister, the changes and styles of leadership that followed have brought about haphazard changes to Malaysia.
Motivated by self-interest
Lately, Malaysians of all walks of life, no matter which side of the political divide they support have come to notice that quite a number of Malaysian politicians lack integrity, ability and honesty.
If BN leaders, in particular, are viewed or perceived to be corrupt, it is not a contention without basis or truth.
This is because there is now open corruption without fear of being apprehended as these BN leaders collude and exhibit nepotism and cronyism.
This is why Malaysians are disappointed with their leaders for failing to play by the rules of the game and the rakyat genuinely fear for the future of this nation.
Many Malaysians now readily agree that there is a lack of capable leaders, especially within BN, to steer the country forward.
Instead, what Malaysians are witness to is the kind of leadership skills which are only suited to be a "penghulu" or "ketua kampung." (village headman)
Since the departure of the Tunku, there has hardly been any Malaysian leader who has been on-board with their leadership skills.
On the contrary, what has happened is that BN leaders are often embroiled in controversies and doubts and aspersions are cast on their character and reputation.
How do you take a young country like Malaysia forward with such a motley collection of leaders?
BN politicians are often the butt of jokes and are often thought of as being motivated by self-interest and self-seeking ambition.
It is not the case at present where BN leaders serve the rakyat, but it has switched to the reverse order whereby the rakyat serve the BN leadership.
The result of ineffectual leadership
This is why there are non-political figures who have arrived on the scene to help try and "put things right." These people wish for nothing more than for the full tenets and obligations of democracy to be practised.
In the past Malaysians used to endorse politicians. Now, more and more Malaysians are seeking support and direction and guidance from leaders outside the mainstream political arena.
The Malaysian Bar Council, Bersih, Suaram, the recently formed and strongly backed and supported Negara Ku and other non-governmental organizations are beginning to overshadow and usurp elected representatives.
This is because many Malaysians believe collusion, corruption, nepotism and cronyism by BN has destroyed the trust people place in those holding political office.
While not openly stating it, Malaysians, irrespective of race or religion, education or social status, are convinced that BN politicians especially do not meet the expectations and hopes of the rakyat.
There is therefore not even a remote possibility of the present crop of BN leaders to be able to take the nation forward and better the country.
What needs to be in place is selecting political leaders irrespective of their race and religion and giving way to real leaders who can move the country forward.
Instead the people who rightfully should lead Malaysia are being sidelined or suppressed and deliberately denied the right to lead by the evil regime of BN for so many years.
This is why the country is in a flux. And if true democracy was being practised, Malaysians should be able to accept a non-Malay non-Muslim as the head of government.
If there is no Malay or other bumiputras within BN at present who have the credentials to lead the country, the nation should be ready to accept a non-Malay Muslim who will be able to do a much better performance as leader of this country.
The important impetus in choosing leaders is not race and religion but whether they can perform to preserve democracy and ensure fair play, justice and meritocracy for everyone.
If there are no egalitarian values, and if Malaysians do not grow up and behave wisely and maturely in choosing and endorsing political leaders, then there is absolutely no possibility of real growth and development taking place as what is happening now as evidence.
The time to make the paradigm shift is now or brace ourselves for a bleak future where the BN leaders cause the country to be doomed as a failed state.
This is what all the indications and signs are at present and if Malaysians do not wake up to this reality, it will spell the beginning of the end for a land that once held so much promise for which the Tunku fought bravely and delivered in vain from the British. - Malaysia Chronicle
