Be careful, FAKE MONEY now making the rounds in Selangor

Be careful, FAKE MONEY now making the rounds in S'gor
With Eid coming less than three weeks away, the Harakah Investigative Team (HIT) received reports of counterfeit money surfacing in Keramat, Shah Alam and Kuala Selangor.
We immediately visited the offices of a complainant in Shah Alam to see for ourselves how the counterfeit money looked liked and the similarity to the original is uncanny.
The complainant said the copy that he showed to HIT was old one as he was not expecting our arrival.
As he owned a chained of sundry shops, he was able to easily spot the fake money, but the same could not be said of his staff.
“The people using these counterfeit notes are experts as they come only when the shop was packed with people, and the cashier unable to really examine the notes they receive.
“The counterfeit note you see in front of you is already worn out due to age, when we initially received it, it was new, and the chances of anyone spotting it as a fake is almost nil,” he said.
Malaysia’s central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has even a page up to warn the public of counterfeit money.
“Counterfeit banknotes are reproduction of the real banknotes using materials of low quality but appear similar to the genuine with intent to deceive member of the public,” BNM’s website stated.
“All counterfeits of modern banknotes can be recognized without too much difficulty. The differences can be seen upon closer examination by applying the "FEEL , LOOK, TILT and CHECK" Principle,” the website stated.
And should one receive a fake banknote, BNM suggested that the steps below be taken:-
Delay the person (passer) who gives you the counterfeit banknotes if possible and observe the passer's description, as well as that of his/her companion if any, and the license numbers of any vehicles used by them
Do not write on, cut or re-circulate the counterfeit currency
Handle the currency as little as possible (e.g. you can put it in an envelope or plastic cover). Record on a separate sheet of paper all the details about how you got the currency, who gave it to you, where and when you got it
Take the counterfeit currency to the nearest police station and surrender the counterfeit currency to them after lodging a police report. -HARAKAHDAILY
