PKR MP in hot water for disclosing wrangling

PKR’s Kuala Langat MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid is in hot water for disclosing internal party wrangling to topple Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to the media.

The party is issuing him a show-cause letter related to an article inBerita Harian today, in which Abdullah Sani is quoted as urging Khalid to respond to the ‘Kajang Move’ - described as an attempt by some PKR leaders to depose him for failing to tackle several state issues well.

For this, the PKR disciplinary board has decided Abdullah Sani (right) owes the party an explanation.

"He has issued a press statement in Berita Harian with the headline ‘Abdul Khalid must give nod to ‘Kajang Move’” that touches on the position of the Selangor menteri besar.

"He will be given a show-cause letter to give his explanation for that media statement," PKR disciplinary board chairperson Tan Kee Kwong said in a press statement today.

Besides Abdullah Sani, the PKR statement note, three other party members have been suspended.

Two Selangor members were suspended for three months for slander and for disclosing the minutes of its political Bureau meetings on Twitter.

A third member, from a Kuala Lumpur division, was suspended indefinitely pending investigation that she had hurled abuse against the party on Facebook.

In the Berita Harianreport, Abdullah Sani said PKR has been in disarray since Jan 15, when a central committee meeting chaired by party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (left), urged Khalid to resign.

However, no replacement has been named. Abdullah Sani has also denied that he backs PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, seen by some as Khalid's nearest rival.

However, he criticised Khalid for failing to solve many Selangor state issues, adding that PAS and DAP also want a change at the top.

Khalid became Selangor MB in 2008, when Pakatan Rakyat won the state from BN control and his term was renewed last year following a strong electoral victory in the state in GE13.
