Public anger over road bully in 1Malaysia

YOURSAY ‘We must stop discriminating a whole race because of the fault of one.’

Police probing woman in road rage video

Ferdtan: This case involved an accident resulting in a woman driver flying into a rage. Race or age has nothing to do with her action. The fault is all hers alone.

She was lucky the man she was involved with in the accident was calm and did not lose his temper despite such provocations. Imagine, she took his car key. If the man reacted, then the scene would have turned unnecessarily ugly.

I really salute the man for his calmness. If the woman were to take my car key away, I don’t know what I would do. Certainly it will not be the same as this good gentleman.

Dr Jacob George: We must always bear in mind that bad individuals exists in all races and genders.

They lack maturity, common sense and rationality that we basically learned in primary school. I am certain incidents like this happen all over 1Malaysia.

But we must stop discriminating a whole race because of the fault of one. I noticed that many mature, religious and peace-loving Muslims brothers and sisters have come out strongly, condemning the despicable behaviour of this woman, behaving in a manner which was unacceptable to them as well, more so, in this holy month of Ramadan.

That is what Malaysia is all about. Peace!

Kawak: I commend inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar for taking action against the woman. The racial slur that she made against the elderly Chinese man when she went into her car after the episode is worrying.

Racial and religious sentiments have been fired up by certain Umno politicians, Malay rights groups Perkasa, Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) and other NGOs to the detriment of the Malaysian society.

This incident proved that the strategy to pit one race against another to gain political support is showing its negative impact on Malaysians as a whole.

YUNoAnon: This is the product of upbringing under the heavy influence of Umno and their splinter/supporting groups and allies.

No other groups in the country preach or behave in such a manner in expressing anger laced with racial overtones to their fellow citizens.

Only because Umno and their allies do so brazenly by singling out the Chinese for their failures in the last general election, and their continuous attacks on Christians and other minorities, do we now see the results as manifested by the woman in the video.

There are many Malaysians who do not behave or believe this way, so let's not make this about race or religion. This is about the elders/parents/friends/leaders who planted the mentality and perception in her head - they are at fault, not religion or race.

The culprit has reportedly apologised for her mistake. While she has apologised, the only way she can truly be forgiven is for her to show remorse. Not just by apologising, but doing something noble for the uncle.

A genuine gesture goes a long way. A handmade card, offer to wash his car, or something which requires no money but just pure effort would mean a great deal, not just to him but to building her character.

KMD_1371466233: Taking away the car key of another driver is an offence, wielding a weapon (the steering lock) is an offence.

Hitting and damaging another person’s car in an offence, use of abusive language is an offence, obstructing traffic is an offence, road bullying is an offence, bullying a senior citizen is an offence.

And there were many more offences she had committed, what more does one need for action to be taken?

Nes: Where is all the aggression come from? And from a young (and educated, I suppose) woman. I hope it is because she has a really bad day on that day. Otherwise, I am afraid we are a long way off to Vision 2020.

Rick: A wrong is a wrong, no matter committed by who, and to which race they belong to. Whatever was done, it must serve as a lesson to others from committing the same in the future.

Anonymous #59879079: She displayed all the classic actions of a spoiled child whose toy has been damaged. And the way she continue to bash the other car shows she's out to do intentional and malicious damage.

If not for today's technology resulting in worldwide airing of her despicable actions, she would not have apologised.

She is now playing on everyone's pity. So who pities the victim (the helpless old man)? Charge her accordingly.

Takung: I have read before that the police will only investigate when someone makes a police report. Now, I read that no police report is required. Does anyone know what is the actual situation?

1BIGF: Yes, all this is between two individuals. It has nothing to do with race or politics or religion. Not every human is perfect.

Well, sometimes when we have a bad day, we do stupid things. Let’s forgive and forget. Selamat Hari Raya, Malaysia. -Mkini
