Sex-row diplomat back to NZ on Monday?

Warrant officer Muhammad Rizalman Ismail could be flown back without diplomatic immunity.
rezalman_nz_300KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian diplomat charged with burglary and sexual assault with intent to commit rape may be sent back to New Zealand as early as Monday.
Warrant officer Muhammad Rizalman Ismail, 38, could be flown back without diplomatic immunity, according to the New Zealand Herald.
Rizalman, who was admitted to the Tuanku Mizan Military Hospital here for psychiatric evaluation, could be discharged over the weekend.
Arrested in Wellington on May 9, Rizalman caused a diplomatic row when he flew back to Malaysia on May 22, after invoking diplomatic immunity.
He was alleged to have assaulted a 21-year-old woman at her home in Brooklyn.
The daily quoted a doctor at the Tuanku Mizan Military Hospital as saying the warrant officer would be repatriated as soon as evaluations were complete.
It is believed four seats have already been booked for the Monday night flight to Auckland. However no names were released.
“We need to get the results and wait for the doctor’s report before he can be discharged,” a doctor at the hospital, a high-ranking military officer told the Herald.
The Malaysian government agreed to return Rizalman to New Zealand where a warrant for his arrest is still in place. He will be accompanied by a senior military officer from the Defence Ministry on his return trip.
The daily also quoted a Malaysian Foreign Ministry official as saying Rizalman will return to New Zealand without diplomatic immunity.
“This means he will be treated like any civilian accused of committing a crime in New Zealand.”
Meanwhile, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is reportedly planning an independent inquiry into its handling of the case.
