WELL DONE! M’sian world-beating duo score the HIGHEST in accountancy ACA exam
KUALA LUMPUR - Two local students made the country proud when they achieved the highest score in the March 2014 sitting of the international ACA examinations.
The duo, Khei-Ping Si from Kuala Lumpur and Christina Sue Yin Lim from Selangor would make their way to Char tered Accountants Hall in London after topping global rank ings accountancy examination.
“Both students will be among the elite group of prize winners who will be receiving recognition for their ac complishments in an exclusive ceremony held at the pres tigious headquarters of ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Ac countants in England and Wales) next year.” said ICAEW in a statement yesterday.
Khei-Ping won the Howitt prize for Financial Management while Christina was the top scorer for the Spicer and Pegler prize in her field of Financial Accounting and Reporting.
“ With the guidance from my lecturers and tuition provider, I have learned a lot over the past three years. I believe that with strong determination and guidance from lecturers, parents and friends, achieving success is now very possible.” said Christina.
She added that her decisions to enrol in the ICAEW Certificate of Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) qualification was so that she could reach her goal of being a professional accountant more quickly as compared to the standard process starting from enrolling into a Pre-U, taking a degree in Accountancy, and do a professional accountancy paper upon joining an accountancy firm.
The ICAEW CFAB is an accelerated program aimed at high achieving school leavers in providing them a ‘shortcut‘ in undergoing training as a chartered accountant right after high school.
Christina’s thoughts were echoed by fellow prize winner who was an independent student, Khei-Ping who also joined the same programme.
Christina and Khei-Ping are currently studying full time in completing the 12 modules provided by ICAEW before progressing to complete their training with an authorised employer.
ICAEW Malaysia Head, Loh Wei Yuen said the Malaysian government had highlighted the need for world class pro fessional accountants to fuel the country’s economic trans formation plan and the program was fully aligned in fulfilling that goal.
ICAEW is a world leading professional membership or ganisation that promotes, develops and supports over 142,000 chartered accountants worldwide providing qual ifications and professional developments of the accountancy and finance profession. -NST
