When Ibrahim Ali shows he’s not quite the wit of the party

How sad? How stupid? Datuk Ibrahim Ali's response to the setting up of Negara-Ku has again exposed him for what he is: a shallow mind with a louder hailer.
The president of the Malay rights group Perkasa poked fun at the new Negara-Ku movement set up to fight racism and extremism, saying he wanted to "date" its patron Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan and suggested that both change their names for national integration.
Is he a politician or a stand-up comedian? Or can't he even tell the difference?
They want intelligent and real discourse over the many issues that seem to be threatening to pull the country and its citizens apart.
But intelligence is scarce in Ibrahim's (pic) universe. He can only poke fun and respond to the formation of this non-governmental organisation with flippant comments.
But no one should be surprised, given that he is a product of Umno, the political party best known for producing "towering Malaysians" such as Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor, Datuk Ahmad Maslan and nameless others.
Through his shallow comments, Ibrahim exposes the reason he has been on the periphery of Malaysian politics for so long: the inability to think seriously and sincerely about the country.
Also, Ibrahim's high standing in Umno and with Putrajaya is also an indictment of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
After all, it is only natural that you are judged by the company you keep and the people who influence your decisions.
Would Ibrahim ever have anything intelligent to say about the country? Perhaps one day. But no one will hold their breath for a politician who is more a court jester than anything else.
