All eyes now on Selangor exco members

FREE YOURSAY ‘If they don't resign, it means they want to continue serving under Khalid.’

PKR sacks Khalid over refusal to quit MB's post

Vijay47: We are so desperate and famished of good governance that any party other than Umno is most welcome.

Following Pakatan Rakyat's takeover of several states, we unrealistically assumed that in true fairy tale fashion, everything would be a bed of roses and that the only way was up. But the reality of politics is so different and often so painful and the Selangor situation proves this abundantly.

The decision to sack MB Khalid Ibrahim would have serious ramifications but it was a necessary conclusion. If the village must burn to save the nation, so be it.

Khalid was earlier painted as a true Pakatan beacon and in my mind, apart from some dubious arrangements; the biggest stain on his record and character is the cosy settlement of his bank loan.

So was he an Umno plant? If he was, then Umno must be complimented on how expert they are in machinations of this nature. Khalid would have been the ultimate mole and testimony that in real life, not everybody lives happily ever after.

Anonymous_1371732958: A person's misdeeds will always be unfairly weight against him in spite of his good deeds. TSKI (Khalid) has his many past good deeds, unfortunately his recent miscalculation has overridden all that.

Such is the reality of life.

Bash: What a shameful episode. And it shows that life isn't fair for some people in spite of their ability and well-meaning intentions.

Khalid has managed the state's finances well and the accounts are for all to see. When successful, others then come along and plunder - now, isn't that how most things work in Malaysia? See the modus operandi repeated time and again?

Nusantara: PKR has made a wrong decision though they've deliberated on it. The allegation is vague and confusing. In fact, PKR should call him for an inquiry instead of taking drastic action to sack him immediately.

It's interesting to see the response from DAP and PAS. Let's wait for more drama and Umno is smiling.

Awakened: Great job, PKR. Khalid had defy his party order and refused to take the opportunity to defend himself. His open defiance should not be tolerated.

He must resign from his post as MB as his open defiance is equivalent to not willing to answer the six questions posed to him.
The next step is to file a motion of no confidence in the state assembly and put it to a vote.

Anonymous #32557251: Khalid was hailed as hero in the last general election. I attended some talks and was impressed by him. He was highly praised by all the leaders from PKR, DAP and PAS.

And now he's "very bad guy". Is politics that dirty? As a man on the street, whom should I choose to believe?

Single Malt: If Khalid is not prepared to resign, then all PKR and DAP-appointed exco should resign en bloc as a matter of principle. Let there be another state election if necessary.

Paul Warren: Now, will the PKR exco members all resign their exco positions as well? And if DAP is in support of the PKR position, are their exco members also willing to resign?

This is what needs to happen for the sacking to bite and have meaning. If they don't resign, it means they are prepared to continue serving under Khalid.

Kim Quek: Many well-wishers of PKR must have given a sigh of relief at this long overdue decision.

Through this decisive move to uphold party discipline, PKR has sent a strong message to friends and foes alike so that none will miscalculate the party’s resolve to uphold its core principles of integrity and non-corruptibility.

Come what may, PKR will soldier on relentlessly with its reformasi mission through its partnership in Pakatan to fulfil its solemn promises to the people.

Cantabrigian: Pakatan Rakyat is no longer a Pakatan Rakyat; it's a coalition of selfish people trying to gain benefits from the failure of Barisan Nasional.

I am voting for anyone other than BN and Pakatan candidates in the next general election.

Shanandoah: Well done, PKR. No one is bigger than the party they belong to. The ball is now at the sultan's feet. The state assembly has to be dissolved and fresh elections called. Khalid brought all this upon himself.

Ckl0001: It was impossible for Khalid to exist as MB without being a member of a political party, and in his case his party is PKR.

And since he is so rebellious, PKR has the right and the power to sack him as a member of the party. He asked for it.

Watchtower: This is the only course of action for any party that stands for integrity, accountability and honesty. The party must act, and act speedily and justly.

No one is happy about this situation, but rule of law and due process must been seen to be done by the government for the people it governs. -Mkini
