BACK TO KERIS-WAVING, BLOOD-SHEDDING WAYS? Umno Youth gives ultimatum on Kelvin Yip

BACK TO KERIS-WAVING, BLOOD-SHEDDING WAYS? Umno Youth gives ultimatum on Kelvin Yip
Umno Youth has given the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) an ultimatum to act against those who allegedly insulted Islam on social media, according to a Sinar Harian report.
“If the authorities fail to give an answer and detail developments on the (Kelvin Yip) case in a week, Umno Youth will not hesitate to disclose a list of other cases that have yet to be solved to this day.
“The authorities are also urged not to be lenient on individuals like Kelvin Yip so that excessive insults against Islam by irresponsible individuals can be put under control,” Umno youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun  was quoted as saying.
He said this after handing over a memorandum to the MCMC today, which was received by their communications directors, Asmawaar Samat and Sheikh Raffie Abdul Rahman.
Facebook complaint
Previously, Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar and right-wing groups such as Isma had called for Yip to be charged after he allegedly posted a profanity-ladened complaint on Facebook about loud prayers from a mosque.
This followed road rage perpetrator Siti Fairrah Ashykin Kamaruddin, or Kiki’s case, where she was quickly charged and sentenced after a video of her antics went viral on Facebook.
Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Razlan Muhammad Rafii had cited the swift prosecution against Kiki, in contrast to the fact that Yip is still at large, as an example of race-based selective prosecution.
Yesterday, Sinar Harian had published a list of cases still pending including rapper Namewee's modification of the national anthem with racial undertones, DAP's RSN Rayer's  labelling of Umno as "celaka" (damned) and Razlan's threat to burn down the DAP headquarters.
Meanwhile, Bernama quoted Sheikh Raffie saying that it would be difficult to track down people who make insults on social media because it is usually made using fake accounts.
‘Anyone with information of any individual who has insulted religions on social networking sites can report to the MCMC and action can be taken under Section 211 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said. -M'kini
