BUILDING A RACIST PEDIGREE? Disgraced Malay road bully Kiki joins Perkasa
KUALA LUMPUR - Siti Fairrah Ashykin Kamaruddin, the woman filmed hammering an elderly ethnic Chinese man’s vehicle with a steering lock, has joined the Selangor chapter of Malay rights group Perkasa today.
The group confirmed that the woman, popularly known as Kiki, was previously a member of the group’s chapter in Pahang, but decided to change branches as she spends more time in Selangor instead.
“She came by to pick up her membership certificate and card today,” Selangor Perkasa chief Abu Bakar Yahya told Malay Mail Online over phone.
This comes as Selangor Perkasa launched a fund to pay her fine in July, insisting that it was a gesture “to help Malays”.
Abu Bakar said, however, that he does not know if Kiki joined the group because of the fund. Last month when launching the fund, he had claimed that Kiki was not a member of the group.
“I didn’t want to ask her the reason why she joined. But it’s okay, what’s wrong with her joining? If she is low spirited, we can help keep her spirits up,” said Abu Bakar.
Abu Bakar described Kiki as a “good woman”, who had not only publicly apologised for her mistake, but had atoned for it by paying the fine and serving community service.
Maybe we can guide her to the right path,” he added.
Selangor Perkasa had earlier posted on its Facebook page a photo of Kiki and another new member with their certificates.
A social media storm erupted after the video documenting Kiki verbally abusing and elderly man and hitting his car with a steering lock was uploaded on video-sharing site YouTube. Her tirade included racist taunts.
Kiki had then pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine or both.
She was said to have committed the offence at the parking lot of UTC, Jalan Sekilau in Kuantan on July 14 at about 1.10pm.
She was then sentenced to RM5,000 fine and 240-hours of community services by the Kuantan Sessions Court. -Malay Mail
