SUBANG - Two Selangor Pas state assemblymen broke ranks with their party leaders today to support PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the next Selangor Menteri Besar.
The two, Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang) and Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) said they stand by their decision to support Dr Wan Azizah to secure the Pakatan coalition’s power in Selangor.
“I have consulted this matter with a few (party) leaders. They have acted on their personal capacity and so have I.
“I am confident that Pas will not go against Pakatan’s policies,” Saari said.
When asked which leaders he had consulted, he said: “I have spoken to a few of them, and I don’t think I need to reveal to you who they are.”
He said he was confident that his actions were not against Pas’ policies, and urged his fellow colleagues to follow suit.
“If the Pas central committee rejects Dr Wan Azizah, I will still stand by my decision. If need be I turn independent, I am ready,” Saari added.
Hasnul, who claimed that Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had done severe damage to Pakatan said Khalid should step down immediately.
“We cannot wait any longer. He has caused a lot of damage.
“Just two days ago he sacked PKR and DAP exco (state executive council) members and I fear that he will continue causing more," he said. -NST
