Khalid 'very satisfied' with sultan meeting

Embattled Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that he is "very satisfied" after meeting the Selangor ruler Sharafuddin Idris Shah for over two hours at the Selangor palace today.

Khalid will address the media during a press conference at 2pm today to further elaborate what had transpired during the meeting.

Prior to this the Selangor royal council sat - without the presence of Khalid who is also a council member - to discuss his position following expulsion from PKR.

Khalid then met the royalty and left the palace at 12.45pm to proceed to the State Secretariat Building in Shah Alam where he will hold his press conference.

The MB appeared to be in good spirits, and when asked about the meeting told journalists with a big smile that he was very satisfied.

Earlier, Khalid arrived at Istana Alam Shah, Klang, at 8.45am while the sultan arrived at the palace at 9am.

Royal council met over options

The sultan met with the Selangor Royal Council (Dewan Di-Raja Selangor) at 10am to discuss Khalid's MB position.

The palace can choose to either dissolve the state assembly or ask Khalid to seek a confidence vote in the state legislative assembly to determine his support among state representatives.

The 20-member royal council, appointed by the sultan for the current term last Nov 18, comprises various court members, including Khalid, state Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairperson Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa and Selangor mufti Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid.

The PKR leadership council expelled Khalid from the party on Saturday, over his refusal to step down as the state's chief executive officer.

This came after the party leadership decided to replace him with PKR chief Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Khalid has given no indication to date that he would be appealinghis sacking from PKR.

"My priority is to be menteri besar, and run the state," he had said yesterday.

Despite his ouster from the party and attempts to replace him as menteri besar, Khalid still saw fit to wish PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim a happy birthday yesterday on Twitter.

"Happy Birthday Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. May you be blessed with long life to proceed with the reformasi agenda and the people's struggle," read his tweet, to which Anwar merely tweeted back, "Thank you."
