MCA demands sedition charge against Zam

Former information minister Zainuddin Maidin should be investigated and charged under the Sedition Act for his claim that the Chinese are the biggest givers of bribes, Wanita MCA chief Heng Seai Kie said today.

Heng said this is an insult to Malaysia’s 6.8 million ethnic Chinese citizens, and undermines national unity.

“For a former senior BN cabinet minister to actually publish such an unfounded accusation, his behaviour is disappointing and disgusting as it can cause friction within BN,” she said in a statement.

Heng (right) said Zainuddin, whom is widely known as Zam,  should also make an apology and have it recorded in the Dewan Rakyat.

She was referring to Zainuddin’s statement posted on his blog on Sunday, in which he commented on why DAP wants Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim removed from office.

Zainuddin claimed that this is because DAP was hoping for “amenities” previously enjoyed by BN component parties, but was disappointed to find that Khalid was hard to bribe or to use.

“The biggest givers of bribes in this country are the Chinese, this is their culture whether in MCA or DAP and is the same in general. The Malays don’t have the money to bribe and are ashamed to do it among themselves.

“The hopes of DAP’s Chinese entrepreneurs and businesses alike on the Khalid administration are the same: What good is power if its dividends are not divided among party members, who then repay it by strengthening the party?” he wrote on his blog.
