Resign if you are not happy working with me, Khalid tells exco

Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said today that executive council members (exco) who were unhappy about working with him were free to resign.
He said PAS had already announced that its four exco members would continue working in the state government under him, and added that this figure was enough to conti‎nue with the exco even if the remaining six PKR and DAP exco members stepped down.
But he added that he would interview the state executive counsellors tomorrow to find out if they were still willing to work under him.
He said that as menteri besar, he had the authority to recommend to the sultan that ‎the exco line-up be changed, but added the exco should decide for themselves if they wished to step down.
Article 53 (2)(b) of the Selangor laws state that the sultan, on the advice of the menteri besar, can appoint not more than 10 nor fewer than four other members from among the members of the legislative assembly.
Selangor PAS confirmed yesterday that the four PAS lawmakers in the state government will not give up their posts.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the party's three Selangor exco members would also not step down, although they no longer recognised Khalid as the legitimate menteri besar.
But the sultan of Selangor today consented to Khalid continuing as menteri besar after a two-hour meeting with the Selangor Royal Advisory Council at the Istana Alam Shah in Klang.
According to Khalid, the sultan believed he still commanded the majority of the support of the assemblymen, despite his sacking from PKR on August 9.
When asked if he would continue as an independent menteri besar or join PAS, Khalid said he would consider the options.
"But I must first clear myself of all the accusations made against me by PKR before I do anything."
He also said it was "hypothetical" for reporters to ask if he would join PAS and form a unity government with BN in Selangor.
"First, I will see whether I can successfully operate and manage the administration of the state.”
He added that he would not bring his expulsion from PKR to court, but would ask the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to look into the process by which he had been sacked from the party.
PKR said on Saturday that it had expelled Khalid for defying the party’s orders to step down as menteri besar and make way for Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace him.
His expulsion came weeks after the MB crisis threatened to split Pakatan between PAS, which supports Khalid, and PKR and DAP, which want him removed.
