From Sedition to Secession, Najib has LOST CONTROL of Malaysia

From Sedition to Secession, Najib has LOST CONTROL of Malaysia
Race and religion is fast tracking while a new strategy is being hatched. Lately the ‘S’ word has become the political preoccupation in Malaysia – ‘S’ for sedition; and another more recent addition, ‘S’ for secession.
And reading from the on-line media and eavesdropping on street corner conversations, you cannot help feeling that politicians are indeed making an ass of governance.
Today ‘sedition’ is becoming a convenient tool and weapon to gain political dominance. And the latest pounce is in East Malaysia over claims of ‘secession’.
When the public gather in large droves to register their protest, as in the likes of Bersih rallies, Black 505 protests, the anti-Lynas march – to name a few, it is not too difficult to decipher the sense of unity and comradeship amongst the citizens. Color, creed, ethnicity, beliefs, age and status are not barriers but the very cord that binds the citizens.
Not only at public protest through peaceful assemblies. Even the marketplace, the many Tamans, our workplaces - everywhere, we witness the Malaysian spirit or what we used to term as 'muhibah' in the old days, thriving and kicking very much.
Hence when politicians and their henchmen bark, ‘Sedition’ or ‘Secession’ it makes one wonder on which planet are they operating from.
Touring the on-line blogs, news portals and the netizens’ comments clearly gives you the conclusive perception that they have more common sense in appreciating the two ‘S’s.
Balik kampung, pendatangs
Malays, Chinese, Indians and others – including East Malaysians seem focused in wanting a Malaysia for all Malaysians. They univocally want to build a Malaysia that gives every loyal, hardworking citizen a right to live and build a Malaysia for all Malaysians.
But when the police and the Attorney General scream and charge citizens for crimes of the two ‘S’s, you wonder how come, because when polticians scream 'balik negeri' or 'pendatang' or 'non-Malays are arrogant', it is not any of the two 'S's.
The most recent is the Sedition charge on an academic. Already many are speaking out against it including the often perceived as docile academic community.
In the midst of all these 'S’ asses that politicians are harping on, we wonder what is so difficult for the government of the day to harness, galvanize and build on the overflowing inventory of aspirations coming from a population that is merely demanding less corruption, greater transparency, better accountability and a forward moving Malaysia that lives and breathes for all Malaysians.
In this age of the new media, the old school of fear-creation, panic-button-pressing, psy-war creations using power-brokers are completely outmoded. You need to be consecrated by the voting public to ensure your political party remains relevant for the times and the long-haul future.
It is high time that our politicians took to speed-learning from neighboring Indonesia that has given birth to a leader of the times, Mr Jokowi or even India's Mr. Modi.
Otherwise, UMNO-Baru should better off be prepared to be buried like the Suharto-regime.
Or are such analytical thoughts also to be labeled as another of the ‘S’ that is haunting the Malaysian political landscape? - MAILBAG
