Mustafa Ali acknowledged that PAS had given three names to the Selangor palace as their picks for the next Menteri Besar. - The Malaysian Insider pic by Afif Abd Halim, September 4, 2014.PAS today confirmed that they had nominated one of its assemblymen for the position of the Selangor Menteri Besar.
Party secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali was quoted by Harakahdaily as saying that the Islamists party had submitted the names of two candidates from PKR and a third from its own ranks.
He declined to name the candidates it had nominated but it is learnt that the candidates were PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and the Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad.
Mustafa said the party had given the names of three candidates as the palace had asked for more than two names.
"So we sent more than two names,” he said while stating the names were sent yesterday.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had requested PKR, DAP and PAS to submit "more than two names" for the menteri besar post by September 3.
However, PKR and DAP had said they would nominate only Dr Wan Azizah.
