DAP betrayed the Chinese, says MCA

Wanita MCA’s Heng Seai Kie says the DAP-PAS union gives green light to hudud proposal.

KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita MCA national chairperson, Heng Seai Kie said that by DAP working together with PAS in Pakatan Rakyat (PR), they were in essence betraying the trust Chinese voters had placed in them.

“DAP has betrayed the Chinese by joining forces with PAS,” she said in referring to Pakatan Rakyat for allowing the hudud proposal to get by.

While admitting that MCA’s failure in the 13th general election had given DAP the mandate to speak for the Chinese, Heng argued that the recent Selangor state government crisis was proof PR did not appreciate this gesture by the Chinese voters.

Stating her extreme disappointment with PR for pushing for the hudud proposal, Heng said MCA’s main objective now was to pressure PAS to stop the tabling of the bill in parliament.

Speaking at the Wanita MCA Annual General Meeting, she reminded delegates that the proposal was only delayed, not omitted.

“This incident has proven that PR is definitely not a better choice even if Barisan Nasional (BN)  is not perfect,” she said.

Saying BN’s victory in the recent Teluk Intan and Pengkalan Kubor by-elections was a sign that the Chinese were putting their trust in BN once again, Heng reasoned it was because the Chinese community had finally “realised the true colours of PR after deciding to support them blindly”.

“I believe that regaining Chinese support is not a dream. MCA will make it come true if we continue to serve the people sincerely,” she said.
