Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh today questioned why students nowadays were trying to become "heroes" by barging into campus grounds and defying the ban imposed by the Universiti Malaya's (UM) administration.
The Education Minister II said students should realised that they need to obtain approval from the authorities before organising any programme on the campus ground and not resort to thuggish behaviour, as displayed in the recent banned talk featuring Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in UM.
“Trespassing into the university by breaking down the gates is a ‘thug culture’, a ‘provocative culture’ which should not exist among students. I don’t know why they want to become heroes.
“Don’t break through gates. That’s thuggish behaviour. Not the culture of students. There is no culture of love at all. I don’t understand how people like them can be considered heroes,” Idris said at a press conference after the SME Bank Young Entreprenuer Innovation Program in Kuala Lumpur today.
