MCA man may sue Penang CM over ‘Allah’

The late Karpal Singh had called upon the Penang Government to ratify the prohibition of 40 words including "Allah" by non-Muslims.
ti-lian-ker_m_lim guan eng_300GEORGE TOWN: MCA Religious Harmony Bureau Head Ti Lian Ker has warned Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that he will consider legal action against him unless he “retracts his slanderous words of calling me ‘a liar and an unworthy lawyer’ and failure” over his (Ti’s) earlier statement on non-Muslim use of the Arabic term “Allah” for God.
“It is very unbecoming of the Chief Minister to call me a ‘liar’ and an ‘unworthy lawyer’ instead of attending to the concerns of the rakyat which I had raised,” said Ti in a statement.
He wants to know whether Lim was “directing the same words of disrespect” at the late Karpal Singh who raised the same concerns early this year as DAP Chairman.
Ti recalled that the late Karpal had in his capacity as DAP’s Chairman, vide DAP’s official organ, Roketkini, called upon the Penang Government under the leadership of Lim to ratify the prohibition of 40 words including “Allah” by non-Muslims.
Karpal, according to him, had said that the prohibition of the 40 words will do injustice to the Sikhs whose holy scriptures mentioned “Allah” 37 times. “Obviously Lim as secretary general had not read his party’s official publication or accorded due respect to his chairman,” he added.
Ti cited a link which did not seem to open up: http:/ /www.roketkini.com/2014/01/12/larangan-guna-kalimat/
He reiterated that ”it was uncouth, unbecoming and ill mannered of the Chief Minister to resort to personal attacks or make sweeping statements calling me ‘a liar’ and ‘an unworthy lawyer’ by saying this: ‘But then again when it comes to MCA, it is their culture to lie…they live, they eat and they breathe to LIE’…”
Ti thinks that “it’s typically Lim Guan Eng to run people down and divert from the real issues and interest of the rakyat“.
“By being condescending or putting me or MCA down doesn’t make him right,” he said.
The MCA leader urged the Penang Chief Minister to be “honest to himself, to his party and the people whom had placed their trust in him”.
In respect of the Kalimah Allah issue, he continued that political reality bites and Lim or DAP should not be double faced about it.
When the prohibition of the word Allah and other words was announced, stressed Ti, the Penang Government had agreed and allowed it to be gazetted. “Further there’s a specific provision of penalty and fine for non-Muslim offenders,” he said. “How can Lim now say that the said Enactment does not affect Non Muslims?”
He wants to know whether Lim is “pulling the wool over Christian eyes or playing with their minds?”
The prohibition of the 40 words outlawed by the Penang Government for use by non-Muslims in the state, he stressed, is an offence liable to a fine not exceeding RM3,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 2 years or both under section 3 of the Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment (Penang), 1996.
