Balakrishnan was arrested in Lambeth, South London in Nov 2013 after having led an obscure cult-like Maoist sect and allegedly holding three women, including Siti Aishah, against their will in a London house for more than 30 years.
Siti Aishah, who was a student activist in the 1970s, was found alongside an Irish woman, 57, and a younger woman known as Rosie Davies, 30.
Balakrishnan was released on bail on conditions that he must live and sleep at his home address, not apply for international travel documents, not contact five women, who cannot be named, and not enter Lambeth unless accompanied by his solicitor.
He is set to next appear at Southwark Crown Court on Dec 31.  - Agencies
