Khairuddin: I don’t owe anyone any money

He says he’s still living in the house that has been up for auction.
Khairuddin Abu HassanPUTRAJAYA: Batu Kawan Umno vice-chairman Khairuddin Abu Hassan has denied that he owes anyone any money, saying he is still living in the house that was up for auction last month.
Khairuddin is the man in the news for lodging a police report against troubled national sovereign wealth fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). He followed up that report today with a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Speaking to reporters after making the MACC report, he said he had not defaulted on any loan that may have led to the auction, explaining that he had been only a guarantor for a RM1.8 million loan taken by a company from CIMB.
“I don’t owe anyone any money,” he declared.
He said his house was up for auction on December 11 for RM2.1 million but it was only last night that he received the notice, which was dated January 5.
“The letter was sent to the lobby of my condo,” he said. “I am still staying there. I don’t know whether it has been sold. I haven’t received any information from CIMB. However, the chances are that I am still the owner.”
He added that he initially planned to sell the house for RM5.8 million.
