MYDIN CONFIRMS: Pro-Najib donors pasted stickers of his face onto rice bags for flood victims

MYDIN CONFIRMS: Pro-Najib donors pasted stickers of his face onto rice bags for flood victims
Mydin Malaysia clarified that stickers bearing Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s face on rice bags were pasted by donors who bought the rice in bulk, and not by the wholesale hypermart.
Photographs of rice bags at Mydin’s USJ outlet were circulated online prompting netizens to ask why Mydin was selling the goods when the sticker shows they were flood aid from Umno.
“The rice was bought from Mydin in bulk by a group of donors (who) later pasted those custom-made stickers with our prime minister’s picture for their own purpose,” it said in a Facebook posting.
The sticker features a picture of the PM with the words ‘Sumbangan Biro Kebajikan Umno Malaysia’.
Biro Kebajikan Umno Malaysia (Umno Welfare Bureau) have been deploying container trucks bearing the same photo of Najib to send flood aid to affected areas.
Earlier, Machang MP Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub was also criticised when pictures of the distribution of rice bags with his face imprinted on them, together with the BN and 1Malaysia logos, were circulated online.
However, he has since refuted the allegations, stating that the bags of rice were leftovers from his 13th general election campaign.
Police report
Meanwhile, a police report was made yesterday against blogger Syed Akbar Ali and Malaysiakini for a publishing an allegedly ‘doctored’ photograph featuring rice bags with pictures of Najib.
The group, Briged Kesatria Muda Malaysia, said the photograph was "manipulated" to make it looked like stickers with Najib and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob's faces were pasted on the rice bags.
Briged Kesatria Muda Malaysia is an Umno Youth humanitarian initiative to assist in flood relief efforts.
Its chief Mohd Eddy Casmady Che Hussin, who claimed to be the person in the photograph, denied placing labels featuring Najib’s and Ismail Sabri’s photo. - Mkini
