SPOT ON! Jakim, Jawi have NO BUSINESS acting as moral guardians - Muslim NGO on K-pop overreax
PETALING JAYA - Islamic religious authorities should be more concerned with wastage of public funds by the government rather than morally policing girls who embraced their Korean idols during a recent concert, said Islamic Renaissance Front chairman Dr Ahmad Farouk Musa.
He said Islamic enforcement agencies such as the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) have no business acting as moral guardians of the girls.
"How the girls acted must be corrected by their parents and not by Islamic religious authorities. They should be more concerned with the government's money being used for useless events," he told theSun today.
Ahmad Farouk said it is the duty of parents to guide their children morally and the authorities should instead be more concerned about the wastage of public funds.
A video of the recent K-Pop mini concert featuring the B1A4 boy-band which claimed that Muslim girls were "molested" on stage by the performers, went viral on the internet.
Jakim is now investigating the organisers while Jawi is probing the girls for their behaviour. - Sundaily
