WRITING ON THE WALL FOR ZAHID: Putrajaya clarifies Cabinet 'HEARD', not 'ACCEPTED' his explanation

WRITING ON THE WALL FOR ZAHID: Putrajaya clarifies Cabinet 'HEARD', not 'ACCEPTED' his explanation
‘Would any sane man write a testimonial for a habitual gambler?’
Ex-PJ: Foreign Minister Anifah Aman’s excuse was perhaps so poor that Wisma Putra had to issue a clarification - that Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s explanation was only “heard” rather than “accepted”. Big difference.
Now it will be interesting to see how the Umno government wiggles itself out of this. Probably the same silent treatment to all relevant questions, as employed unsuccessfully in the MH370 disaster.
Gaji Buta: So an Air Force major who speaks to the local media on a factual matter, without permission of his superiors, is fired, but a minister who writes a formal letter to a foreign country, without proper clearance, to support an alleged gangster, is still in office. Just brilliant.
Wg321: Paul Phua is a known international illegal gambling mafia based in Macau. Before he could be arrested for illegal gambling in Macau, he fled to Las Vegas.
In Las Vegas, he set up an illegal Internet sports betting operation during the last World Cup soccer games. His computers revealed that the bets amount to RM1.24 billion.
He was charged in court for operating an illegal gambling business and transmission of wagering information.
At this stage, our home minister, Zahid tried to save his skin. Let’s study the letter he wrote to the Federal Bureau of Investigtion (FBI). He claimed that:
1. Paul Phua is not a member of 14K triad in Malaysia.
2. Phua has assisted the government in various projects involving national security.
3. He appealed to FBI to free Paul Phua.
Whether Phua is or is not a triad member is not important for us. The question here is why must the government need to give projects involving national security to an international illegal gambling mafia from Macau and Las Vegas?
Where is Perkasa and Isma? Where is that Chinese-bashing former chief justice? Why are you condoning Umno Malays who collaborate secretly with the Chinese mafia by giving them projects which involved national security?
Where is your loudspeaker, Ibrahim Ali?
Louis: Would any sane man write a good testimonial for a habitual gambler? I think it is totally insane to do so. But Zahid did.
Not only was the letter vouching for the gambling kingpin exceptionally good, he went a step further to plead to the United States government to have him home because this particular gambler has extra skill in helping us with our national security.
Since Zahid did not mention in what capacity this gambler help us, I guess he must have provided information to the police on how to identify gamblers like him.
Odin: Obviously, Mr Wisma Putra and Mr Anifah Aman are not on the same wavelength.
According to Google translation, “Kita telah pun mendengar penjelasan diutarakan oleh beliau dan kita telah pun setuju menerima penjelasan-penjelasan yang telah pun diberikan” means “We have already heard the explanation put forward by him and we have already agreed to accept the explanations that have been given”.
So, Mr Anifah Aman, who is the idiot here? Mr Wisma Putra or you?
Appum: Can our nation depend on a group of people sitting at the highest level of the government, entrusted with the sole responsibility to run this country, come with this kind of reaction towards a damaging issue which is of international implication.
They can't even decide how to deal with an obvious mistake (abuse of power) made by one of its ministers, how are they going to really run this nation?
Matmaniamahkow: On one side, they call people ‘pendatang’. On another side, they support a ‘pendatang’ who is a big-time 'crook'. Is this not against the culture of the ‘tuan’?
Commentable: The bottom line is that the cabinet, including the PM himself, is not interested to pursue the matter.
A wrong has been done and although serious, apparently it is not serious enough that it can't be swept under the carpet.
Malaysia still has a long way to go to understand the need for ministerial responsibility. Imagine the precedent that is set today and the chaos which will arise if each minister is given the liberty to act unilaterally without informing the cabinet.
Ipohcrite: Knowing Zahid's character, if he had had a good explanation for his action, he would have hurled it at his detractors without a moment's hesitation.
The fact that he chose to remain silent for this long is at odds with his character and points to his inability to spin away his clandestine deed. And indeed, the rakyat are not fooled.
Selangor Born Overseas Observer: The most important news in the MSM (mainstream media) this week is ‘Woman chops off cheating husband's penis twice’. - M'kini
