Zahid “WORSE THAN SODOMY OR SEX CRIMES' if true.he vouched for kingpin Phua - Perkasa
KUALA LUMPUR - Corruption allegations surrounding Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi following his letter vouching for alleged gambling kingpin Paul Phua is “worse than sodomy or sex crimes” if proven true.
In stating this, Malay rights group Perkasa supreme council member Azrul Akmal Saharudin, in a statement today, also queried if the Home Minister resorted to such actions without informing the Prime Minister, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney-General.
Azrul said based on the letter’s contents – of which was issued to the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – one could assume that Zahid was vouching for Phua’s integrity.
It has recently come to light that Zahid had in a letter addressed to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Mark F. Giuliano that Phua had provided assistance to various agencies under the Home Ministry in matters of “national security and interests”.
Zahid also wrote that Phua was not associated with the 14K triad in the country.
Back in 2008, a police report identified Phua and his involvement in the 14K triad as a local organised crime syndicate involved in illegal drugs, illegal gambling and money-laundering activities in Malaysia.
Phua and his son stand accused of running an illicit gambling operation from luxury suites at the Nevada city’s Caesar’s Palace Hotel during the soccer World Cup last year.
Azrul also wondered if the Umno vice-president did so because he had received “something”, alluding to the latter’s claim last month of Perkasa vice-president Tan Sri Rashid Abdul Rahman.

Zahid had in December slammed the former Election Commission chairman for keeping mum over supposed government corruption while in office, implying that the latter did not get “something”.
Azrul said gambling provided a huge profit and stated that in Malaysia alone, the profit from illegal gambling machine operators reached “millions a day”.
“Hence, if this is true, Perkasa stands by the fact that this action is a betrayal to the national security as well as damaging to the integrity and the image of the country.”
Azrul questioned if Zahid has lost his integrity that led him to support an alleged international criminal.
“This will compromise the country’s security. If this is the character of a Home Minister who compromised on matters involving national security, then it is not surprising that lately there has been a growing number of bad elements in the country.” - http://www.therakyatpost.com/
