DAP commited to PR, deplores Hadi’s dishonesty

CEC deplores the dishonest and dishonourable acts of PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang and will end ties and cease to work with him.
dap hadi2KUALA LUMPUR: The Democratic Action Party (DAP), at its Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting on Monday night, unanimously resolved that it reaffirms its commitment to Pakatan Rakyat, opposes the implementation of hudud laws and deplores the dishonest and dishonourable acts of PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang.
DAP urged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak not to make any further delays in declaring a clear and unequivocal stand on whether to oppose or support the hudud enactment in Kelantan, as well as clarify the role of Umno Kelantan State Assemblymen in supporting the hudud bill.
Najib, the CEC said, must also declare whether he supports the Private Member’s Bill tabled by Hadi. Umno, the CEC charged, instigated PAS to implement hudud laws in Kelantan, on 27 March 2014 in Parliament, by promising Federal Government support.
Hadi, the CEC held, was co-operating with Umno to violate Pakatan Rakyat’s spirit of consensus as well as its Common Policy Framework.
DAP said it was unable to work with a PAS President like Hadi Awang “who persists in dishonest and dishonourable acts. The DAP has lost trust and confidence in Hadi as a Pakatan Rakyat leader and will end ties and cease to work with him.”
As Hadi is the PAS leader in PR, it noted, DAP’s decision to end all ties with him will effectively put the Majlis Pimpinan or the Pakatan Rakyat Leadership Council in limbo. “DAP will meet the PKR leadership to discuss the future course of Pakatan Rakyat,” said the CEC.
DAP, revisiting hudud, opposes its implementation because it was unconstitutional. All 37 DAP MPs will therefore oppose the Private Member’s Bill on hudud submitted by Hadi. “Malaysians who supported PAS in the last General Election did not vote for the implementation of hudud but for the Common Policy Framework.”
Pakatan Rakyat, the CEC further held, was the governing coalition that embodies the aspirations of all Malaysians, regardless of race, religion and creed, who aspire to build a new Malaysia based on the fundamental values of freedom, justice, democracy, integrity and human dignity.
“The DAP also reiterates that the Pakatan Rakyat coalition parties must adhere to the spirit of the Common Policy Framework operating through the spirit of consensus centred on trust and mutual respect in the Majlis Pimpinan PR (PR Leadership Council),” said the CEC in the statement signed by party secretary-general Lim Guang Eng.
The CEC had only the harshest criticisms for Hadi.
Dredging up the past, it noted that Hadi had betrayed the collective decision made by the PR Leadership Council on the nomination of Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as Pakatan Rakyat’s sole candidate for the position of Menteri Besar of Selangor. “That resulted in a full blown and protracted crisis that threatened to bring down Pakatan’s Selangor Government,” said the CEC.
Hadi, the CEC added, also failed to honour his own words during the PR Leadership Council meeting on 8 February 2015 that the Enakmen Kanun Jenayah Syariah II Kelantan 2015 would be discussed at future meetings.
Hadi, the CEC continued, even submitted the Private Member’s Bill on 18 March 2015 without presenting it to the PAS Central Committee and the PR Leadership Council.
