HOW MUCH OF PAKATAN RAKYAT SELANGOR’S PROMISES HAVE BEEN MET?

One question that comes to mind is what is the progress of the free and user-friendly public transportation including bus services in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Klang and Kajang?

This was what Pakatan Rakyat Selangor said in its 2013 Election Manifesto that was signed by Teresa Kok of DAP, Dr Rani Osman of PAS, and Azmin Ali of PKR:

Once the merger of all water related companies into a single state water company is completed following their successful buy-back, all Selangor citizens will be given the opportunity to subscribe to shares issued by the new company. Water is held in trust by the state for its people. The people of Selangor will now own their own water.

Allocate RM100 million to establish a professionally managed State Housing Development Board that is fully empowered to outline a holistic and wholesome housing policy framework, in particular to provide and manage affordable but quality homes and other rakyat-centric housing projects.

Ensure the successful completion of the RM300million Third Klang Bridge; construct the Integrated Public Transportation Terminal in Selangor’s capital, Shah Alam; provide free and user-friendly public transportation including bus services in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Klang and Kajang; and prepare separate bicycle lanes for new housing developments in selected areas.

Pakatan Rakyat is almost two years into its second five-year term so by now many of the above should have already been started even if not completed yet. One question that comes to mind is what is the progress of the free and user-friendly public transportation including bus services in Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Klang and Kajang?

We know that the buy-back and merger of all the water concessionaires into a single water company may not happen after all. I am not sure what is the progress of all the other promises, though.

P.Y. Gan wrote (SEE HERE), “During GE13, we were made promises that all tolled highways would be abolished if Pakatan Rakyat wins Selangor. Now this empty promise is no more than leaves in the wind, with DASH – a 68 years concession tolled highway, still being in the State’s long term plan and I as a resident of Damansara Perdana and PJ, still fighting for the safety of my home.”

Actually that is not true. If you were to read Pakatan Rakyat Selangor’s Election Manifesto you can see that there is no mention of that at all.
