How Najib is going to win the next GE

How you ask? All thanks to Manchester United!

NAJIBby Fa ‘Fellaini’ Abdul
With all the drama going around in recent times, one would have thought that by now PM Najib’s popularity would be going down the jamban. But surprise, surprise, apparently now he has been declared by some as ‘pemimpin berjiwa rakyat’.
How you ask? All thanks to Manchester United!
Last Sunday, March 22, Manchester United went up against Liverpool at Anfield.
While a large number of football fans cheered for their favourite team at their respective homes, pubs and mamak shops, a restaurant in Johor Bahru received a surprise guest.
Yup, it was none other than our beloved Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak.
Najib, accompanied by Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, cheered for their favourite team – Manchester United, as witnessed by a number of ordinary Malaysians.
Someone snapped photos of our big guy sitting at a simple restaurant, cheering every time MU scored a goal, and the next thing – voila! – it went viral on Twitter.
I realise that our government is Twitter savvy nowadays, so I have no idea whether watching the match with the local crowd was indeed Najib’s idea of a cheap publicity stunt, but it looks like it worked perfectly well anyway.
Not only did the photos go viral on social media, the news was also carried by several media organisations and portals, including FMT.
Browsing through the comments on FMT a couple of days ago, I have to say that my jaw dropped at the sight of some of the comments.
“This is what we call a peoples’ leader. Well done, Najib!”
“The people should praise and appreciate our PM for spending time to watch football with local people. Although he is PM, he humbly sat down at the restaurant instead of watching it in his VIP room.”
“He is just a normal man, like us…That shows Najib has the spirit of the rakyat.”
WOW.
At one time we were making a lot of hoo-ha about supposed corruption scandals, over-expenditure and silence on important issues. And now we are cheering for him?!
Seriously?
Aren’t we all like “lalang”, eh? When the wind blows from the east, we fall to the west; when it blows from the west, we fall to the east. Fragile, flexible and without a backbone. Simply brilliant!
What next? Shall we pull up a chair for Najib to sit down and play candy crush with the rakyat? Will that make Najib the ‘peoples’ leader’?
Perhaps this is exactly what Najib needs to do to win the next election – boost his public relations with the ordinary people.
Come on, think about it – since Manchester United has the largest fan base in Malaysia, Najib should seriously consider going around to all 222 parliamentary constituencies to watch football matches at local joints with the ordinary folk every week.
All he needs to do is repeat the same stunt he did last Sunday. If he does just that, I am sure it will help to boost his popularity and he will be able to gain peoples’ support once more.
Furthermore, referring to the positive comments on FMT, it can be concluded that pleasing and brainwashing ordinary people is not a difficult task.
Clearly, MU is Najib’s key to victory in the next election!
PFFFFFFFTTTTT!!!!!
Writer’s Note:
Fa is now seriously considering shifting her support from MU to Liverpool.
