rafizi-ramli_polis_600PETALING JAYA: Police brought PKR secretary-general to party headquarters here today in a raid to look for documents relating to the KitaLawan protest rallies. A statement from PKR said six policemen were at party headquarters.
Kapar MP G Manivannan, who is with Rafizi, said the police wanted to get evidence relating to the directive he recently circulated to party members on the KitaLawan rally.
“The police are here to search the place to find evidence relating to his arrest,” he said.
Rafizi was arrested under the Sedition Act on Friday, a day after he had issued a statement urging members of PKR to attend the KitaLawan rally in Kuala Lumpur to condemn police misuse of the act to suppress free speech.
In the statement, he said the party fully supported the KitaLawan rallies, which have also received support from various groups.
He had also urged all Malaysians to attend the rally to voice their support for justice for jailed opposition and Pakatan Rakyat leader Anwar Ibrahim, and to speak out against the Goods and Services Tax, the financial scandal involving government company 1Malaysia Development Bhd, abuse of power through the Sedition Act, and attempts by the police to restrict the freedom of assembly.
On Friday, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the party had only instructed its members to meet at three locations and move towards Sogo.
Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre was not one of the locations, he said, denying that PKR members had been told to disrupt the wedding reception of the prime minister’s daughter held at KLCC on Saturday night.
