Stop squabbling and get the water deal back on track

water_300FMT LETTER
From: Angry mom in Hulu Langat via e-mail
Just like any other resident living in Hulu Langat, my family and I have been dealing with water interruptions for the past few weeks. For those who never had a “no water” experienced, good for you because living without water is a nightmare!
Not only does it make us wake up in a “bad mood”, it also interrupts our daily routines. The children need to be bathed, and dinner must be served. In desperate times, I even had to spend my own money to buy bottles and bottles of treated water to use for other purposes apart from drinking or cooking.
As far as we’re concerned, the Selangor Government and the Federal Government promised that they would put the people’s priority first. They would build Langat 2 to help decrease the chances of a water crisis in the future. But what’s happening now? The water deal is off? You’ve got to be kidding!
Could the both of you stop acting like kids? Why continue to fight over water assets and blame each other in the media for the stalled water deal where you could just meet up personally and discuss it like adults? If you hate each other so much, the least you could do is make a phone call. In case you’re not aware of it, we have a thing called technology.
We don’t care if there’s a hidden political agenda behind this deal. All we know is that the majority of residents and businesses want both parties to stop squabbling and sort out the matter.
It is us who has to deal with the consequences. It is us who will have to go through water rationing. Not the Selangor Government nor the Federal Government. Have you ever read in the news that there’s no running water at a Minister’s home? Nope. I don’t think so.
With all due respect, please put any political or personal matters aside and start thinking about what’s good for the people. We’re your responsibility. Plus, happy citizens will only contribute more profit to the country. So it’s basically a win-win situation for everyone. So here’s to a better Malaysia.
