UMNO FEUD INTENSIFIES: How Dr Mahathir must wish Najib had divorced Rosmah

It was with much apprehension that finally Tun Dr. Mahathir decided Datuk Seri Najib Razak be appointed as the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia. Dr. Mahathir was a bit hesitant and only if de;uty prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin had shown some sort of leadership and a clear stance to uphold the legacies of Dr. Mahathir, he would be the prime minister now.

It has been rumoured amongst the Umno circles that when Dr. Mahathir was considering Najib for the post of deputy prime minister, he called Najib to his home and told him two things; the corruption must stop and Najib must divorce his wife, Rosmah.

But who is Dr. Mahathir in trying to dictate Najib, more so pertaining to his private life? Najib knew that Dr. Mahathir made blunders too and the most obvious is the PKFZ scandal.

The judiciary lost its integrity due to Dr. Mahathir too; the sacking of the then Chief justice Tun Salleh Abas and not taking action against those involved in the Lingham’s tapes. Money in Petronas and other funds were also abused by Dr. Mahathir to bail out his cronies.

Najib may have just nodded in agreement with Dr. Mahathir to get the deputy prime minister and later the prime minister's post. Why not listen to the older man's grousing. After all, once he is PM, there is nothing much Dr. Mahathir could do.

But then, what about asking Najib to divorce Rosmah? This rumor has been swirling for years. True or not, Dr. Mahathir is very aware that Najib listens to Rosmah and almost nobody else!

Thus when people managed to get to Rosmah, definitely they would be able to make Najib fulfill their requests. Then Rosmah would have her own personal wishes and ideas that Najib would not say no to!

These two factors when put into effects, would result in disaster for the country. Perhaps this is why Dr. Mahathir was said to have wanted to cut off the connection between Najib and Rosmah. Even Najib's brothers are said to 'can't stand her. Perhaps Rosmah is a bit too bossy and her 'megalomania' is indeed quite frightening.

Even now, notice how Najib only sharpened his attacks against Dr Mahathir when he criticized her. The usually timid Najib even went to the extent of warning Umno against divisive 'bad characters' at a function in Kedah hosted by Mahathir's son Mukhriz.

Who would have thought Najib had the guts to bait the tiger in its own den? Najib and Rosmah must have been sore at Mahathir's blog posting asking how Rosmah's son Riza Aziz came by his fabulous wealth. Riza's good pal is of course Jho Low of the 1MDB infamy. But Mahathir has a point - did Tun Razak also leave behind so many billions to Rosmah's son? How can such a young man suddenly own so many penthouses in New York and fund the making of A-list Hollywood movies?

The first family's charade of innocence is becoming quite ridiculous to everyone in Malaysia and the world by now. Yet Najib's henchmen in Umno including the likes of Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahrizat Jalil continue to fervently defend the debt-laden 1MDB - are they not traitors to the rakyat?

If 1MDB implodes, should not criminal action be taken against those elected reps who refused to call for independent probes to protect the people's money?

Fast forward, we can see how true that concern of Dr. Mahathir was and he has been trying to rectify the mistake ever since and so far without much success. It is therefore not wrong for some people to say that the present feud between Dr. Mahathir and Najib is in fact a match between Mahathir and Rosmah.

Unfortunately with Najib as the buffer, it is quite impossible for Dr. Mahathir to even make Rosmah sweat, let alone scratching her! Thus the only choice that Dr. Mahathir has is to remove Najib from power.

Najib on the other hand is also prepared for every eventualities and he has been slyly wielding his power and delegating the tasks to his entrusted sycophants. That is why Najib has persisted on being a man of few words against Dr. Mahathir and could not be bothered to take heed to any of Dr. Mahathir’s comments.

Rosmah have also played her part in protecting Najib and at times taking some of the blames onto herself and relieved Najib of the burden.

As Umno/Najib cannot be defeated via the ballot boxes because of the role played by the Election Commission and the cheatings, Dr. Mahathir cannot defeat Najib/Rosmah through the straight forward way.

Dr. Mahathir is not in power anymore and he cannot do it alone. Dr. Mahathir must gather more support and be more creative in trying to remove Najib from power. The longer the delay, the weaker Dr. Mahathir will be and Najib will be more powerful, more so when the opposition parties are in chaos.

Thus Rosmah would be able to carry on with her antics, whims and fancies much to the frustration of Dr. Mahathir! - MAILBAG
