PETALING JAYA - It is time Prime Minister Najib Razak meet his accuser, Mahathir Mohamad head on and answer all his questions about 1MDB, said Zaid Ibrahim in a series of tweets today.
Reminding Najib that all the questions posed on 1Malaysia Development Berhad so far had been legitimate, Zaid added, “Dont make fun of Tun M. All he wanted was some answers. All legitimate questions. PM has to face his accuser head on.”
A former law minister with the government, Zaid also said that while many attributed Najib’s success at becoming PM to his wife, Rosmah Mansor, he felt differently and said it was Mahathir who made him the man he is today.
“Some say Najib would not be PM if not for Rosmah. I say Najib owes it to Tun for what he is today. Least he can do for Tun is respect him.”
Zaid also said that it did not matter who was asking the questions as long as the questions were important and warranted an answer.
“U may not like Tun M but thats not the issue. Are the questions he raised important? Its not about the questioner but the question,” he tweeted regarding Mahathir who is widely regarded as Najib’s harshest critic ever since withdrawing support for his leadership last year.
Zaid even suggested Najib go public with his answers and tweeted: “What better way than appear on TV and answer all the questions Tun had asked. That’s being respectful to the man and the people too.” - FMT
