MYSTERY DEATH AT TAMAN MALURI: Mongolian student 'falls' to her death

MYSTERY DEATH AT TAMAN MALURI: Mongolian student 'falls' to her death
KUALA LUMPUR - A 29-year-old Mongolian student fell six floors to her death at her apartment in Taman Maluri.
Police have detained her three drunk and possibly drug-high roommates and are still investigating whether her death yesterday had elements of foul play.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi said the woman was found sprawled on the concrete pavement of the apartment parking lot by a resident at about 11am.
An ambulance was called to the scene where she was pronounced dead. It appeared that she had fallen from the sixth floor of the apartment building, he said.
"Attempts to record statements from her three roommates have not been fruitful as they do not speak English or Bahasa Malaysia.
They also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. When they opened their mouths to speak to us, the smell was strong. We believe they might have also taken other substances.
"They are being detained for documentation and we are working with their embassy to provide translation. We are still investigating the cause of the death," Supt Mohamad Roy said.
Police found the apartment trashed, with beer cans strewn all over the place. They also found shattered glass from a coffee table.
He said the roommates, aged 23 to 32, were in the country under visitor passes, while the deceased entered the country in November last year and obtained a student visa to attend a university in March.
The case has been classified as sudden death. - Asiaone
