Why hide behind lalang? Zam asks Nur Jazlan

The Pulai MP's call for Najib's resignation was clear enough, says the former minister.
Nur-Jazlan-Mohamed_Zainuddin-Maidin_600PETALING JAYA: Pulai MP Nur Jazlan Mohamed’s recent warning to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was clear enough and it’s futile for him to explain it away, former information minister Zainuddin Maidin says in his latest blog posting.
Yesterday, Nur Jazlan urged Najib to either give explicit answers to questions being posed by former premier Mahathir Mohamad – and to do it quickly – or call for a snap election. In a subsequent interview, the Pulai MP denied that he had made an indirect call for the Prime Minister and Umno President to step down.
Referring to the denial, Zainuddin says Nur Jazlan was merely making the motion of hiding from someone by waving a shaft of lalang in front of him.
“Isn’t asking Najib to dissolve Parliament to make way for a snap election the same as asking him to resign?” he asks. “How can there be a general election without Najib resigning?”
Zainuddin notes that Nur Jazlan, in the earlier interview, also indicated his dissatisfaction with the answers Najib gave in a TV3 interview two weeks ago, specifically to questions regarding the GST and the 1MDB controversy.
He also notes Nur Jazlan’s diffidence with regard to how Umno would perform in such a snap election given that Najib is being defended against criticism only by party leaders who lack credibility.
Nur Jazlan has in fact shown more courage than even Muhyiddin Yassin, Zainuddin says in reference to the Deputy Prime Minister’s remarks at a forum last Sunday. Muhyiddin, addressing Mahathir, who was also at the forum, said, “You are not alone, Sir” and went on to praise the former premier for his “fight for truth”.
Zainuddin says Nur Jazlan’s courage has increased his credibility as the Chairman of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee.
“So why hide behind a shaft of lalang?” he asks in bantering Malay.
