Najib Razak is facing a crisis of trust, PAS MP Khalid Abdul Samad tells the prime minister in Parliament today.
KUALA LUMPUR: The “crisis of trust” currently surrounding Najib Razak can only be solved by dissolving Parliament and holding new elections, PAS’ Khalid Abdul Samad has told the prime minister.
In an impassioned speech in Parliament today, the Shah Alam MP launched a tirade against Najib, saying, “It is a crisis of trust that he faces, not just among the Opposition or the rakyat, but even among the leaders of Umno-Barisan Nasional!
“He looks to his right – his own deputy is there!
“And when he sits in the Dewan Rakyat and looks in front, there the Speaker is,” Khalid said, likely referring to recent issues of trust regarding Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Dewan Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia.
Khalid said the Prime Minister could only solve this problem by dissolving Parliament and calling for new elections for the purpose of getting a new “mandate from the rakyat” and to silence his critics.
“Prove that he does not just have the confidence of his own party, but that he really owns and has gotten the confidence of the rakyat. That is the only way,” said Khalid.
“In a situation where all are saying the rakyat do not believe in Datuk Seri Najib, you must prove the opposite.
“And I guarantee that if that is done, the new Pakatan Rakyat government will rule Malaysia.”
He also claimed that the new PR government would be able to implement everything planned in the 11th Malaysia Plan with “complete trust and responsibility”.
