KUALA LUMPUR - The wrong choice of leadership remains the main reason for the nation being wrecked by various scandals, according to Isma President Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman in a message carried on its website Ismaweb. “The prophet has illustrated what happens when the wrong leaders are put in place. There’s only destruction.”
The head of the radical Muslim NGO said that only those who are pious and god-fearing should be entrusted with the leadership of the nation. “Now, we have people in leadership positions who think that they don’t need to remember God and have to just resort to all sorts of political trickery to succeed.”
“Leadership is a trust, he reiterated, and piety is a question of integrity. “Without piety, trust is not safe.”
Abdullah was commenting on the “bail out” controversy arising from the Lembaga Tabung Haji ‘s (LTH) purchase of 1.56 acres of land in Kuala Lumpur from the scandal-ridden 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) for RM188.5 million.
“The people have been discussing the 1MDB scandal so far and now they have to discuss LTH’s involvement as well,” he lamented. “They should consider that all this is the result of having the wrong kind of people as leaders.” - FMT
