Jay Jay Denis, the aide to Klang MP Charles Santiago, had tweeted on the evening of May 1 about the arrests after the Workers Day rally on the same day.
He had tagged the Twitter handle of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, who then tweeted a reply, urging Denis to "berhati-hati" (be careful).
To this, Khalid replied, "Elok Saudara @jayjaydenis berhati2 membuat tuduhan melampau terhadap @PDRMsia yg menjlnkan t'jawap menjaga keamanan".
(@jayjaydenis should be careful when making extreme allegations against @PDRMsia who are just doing their duties in keeping the peace.)
Denis told The Malaysian Insider this evening that he had been asked to present himself at Bukit Aman tomorrow at 2.30pm over the tweet, adding that he will be there with lawyer and DAP lawmaker Gobind Singh.
"This is an unnecessary waste of resources. The police should be protecting the people, but it appears like the reverse is happening," the said.
Friday's rally ended peacefully but police began making arrests after it had ended.
Twenty-nine people, including six minors, were arrested that evening, followed by the arrests of lawyer and activist Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan, opposition politicians and activists.
