Report lodged on FB user insulting Perak Sultan

He is believed to have uploaded a statement which mocked the enthronement ceremony and urging that the nation be turned into a republic.
Ali-Abd-Jalil
IPOH: The Ipoh Barat Umno division Youth and three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today lodged a police report on netizen Ali Abdul Jalil’s action of uploading a status on his Facebook which insulted the enthronement ceremony of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah.
Its secretary, Hamzah Hamdan said the police report was made as the movement were very unhappy over the action of the individual who mocked the ceremony.
“The statement uploaded by the individual in question which insults the monarchy is clearly irresponsible and uncouth, and hurt the feelings of people in the state.”
He said this to reporters after lodging the report together with the representatives of the NGOs at the Sungai Senam police station, here.
The NGOs were Pertubuhan Ayahanda Penasihat Insan Malaysia, Perak 4B Youth Movement and Persatuan Silat Kegayungan Sri Sukma Sakti Malaysia.
Yesterday, Ali was believed to have uploaded a statement which mocked the enthronement ceremony and urging that the nation be turned into a republic.
Hamzah said the statement of the individual who wanted the nation to be turned into a republic was an offence under the Sedition Act and Penal Code.
He said the country’s system of constitutional monarchy must be protected at all times because it had proven itself in steering the nation to the pinnacle of success.
“Democracy will only succeed if we have limits and control. The nation stands to lose if the situation becomes chaotic.
“As such, we hope the police will take action against the individual concerned,” he said.
