THE REAL TARGET IS MY DAD - Najib's son cries foul amid bad press over Ponzi scam scandal

THE REAL TARGET IS MY DAD - Najib's son cries foul amid bad press over Ponzi scam scandal
Nazifuddin Najib said attempts to link him to a Ponzi Scheme may be part of an effort to get as his father, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
This is after a video by Thai television NOW26 on Nazifuddin's alleged link to Ufun was circulated on social media based on the Ponzi scheme's promotional material.
"They are trying to defame everybody involved with the prime minister, including the children and all, they are attacking everybody.
"This is really uncalled for and I hope action will be taken against whoever is involved," he told Malaysiakini when contacted.
This comes amid calls, including from former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, for Najib to step down.
Nazifuddin said the circulation of the video was "possibly political".
"The person who is defaming me is putting this fabrication of information in video content and spreading it throughout Malaysia.
"It is to smear my reputation and trying to attack me and probably my family," he said.
Ufun had in its promotional material claimed that the Ponzi scheme was the brainchild of Sagajuta Sdn Bhd of which Nazifuddin was executive chairperson.
Nazifuddin yesterday said he had quit the company since 2012.
Today, he clarified that Sagajuta Sdn Bhd had no links to Ufun after Sarawak Report pointed out he still held shares in the company.
Nazifuddin said he had lodged a police report against Ufun for abusing his name and Sagajuta Sdn Bhd's chief executive officer Raymond Chan had done the same but there has yet to be an outcome with regard to the investigation.
Netizens have been speculating about Nazifuddin's involvement based on Ufun's promotional material which was subsequently picked up by the media.
Malaysiakini in a special report on May 1 had investigated the allegations but found no concrete evidence to back the claim. - M'kini
