Zaid Ibrahim says he was merely commenting that some key ministers had met there.

PETALING JAYA: Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim has taken to Twitter to clarify that he did not in any way say a conspiracy was being hatched in Milan by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to replace Prime Minister Najib Razak.
“Mengenai Milan saya tak kata ada komplot. Cuma ada beberapa Menteri jumpa dia di Milan. Itu betul.”
“With regard to Milan, I did not say there was a conspiracy. Only that a few ministers had met him (Muhyiddin) in Milan. That’s true,” he said in a tweet.
He also said he didn’t stand to gain anything by making defamatory remarks about the goings-on in Umno and even invited the DPM to read his blog entry once again.
“Tidak ada guna saya buat fitnah dalam isu dalaman Umno. Baca balik apa yang saya tulis dalam blog saya. Nazri melenting itu lain.”
“There is no reason for me to make defamatory remarks about Umno’s internal issues.
“Read again exactly what I wrote in my blog,” he said, adding that the rantings of Nazri Aziz, the minister of tourism and culture, was another issue altogether.
On May 13, Nazri hurled a string of venom-laced insults at Zaid for starting the rumour that he, along with other key players in Umno, were concocting a plan in Milan to overthrow Najib. He also said Zaid’s suggestions were utter “nonsense”.
Earlier, Zaid congratulated Muhyiddin for “speaking up” about 1Malaysia Development Berhad, after the DPM had addressed the media over a leaked video which showed him speaking critically of 1MDB to Umno members.
In the video, Muhyiddin had suggested that the entire board of directors of the beleaguered company ought to be sacked and the police be called in to investigate the massive financial losses suffered.
In commenting on Muhyiddin’s suggestion however, Zaid said, “DPM wants PM to sack 1MDB Board. Is that realistic? Did Najib appoint them or was it someone else?”
He also sounded pessimistic that Najib would oblige his deputy when he tweeted, “Anyway I hope DPM is ready with his next statement when Najib refuses to sack 1MDB nor call the Police.”
