KUALA LUMPUR — The call to arrest Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over allegations against the prime minister is a “mischievous” suggestion that will be ignored, said the Inspector-General of Police.
“To me, I consider that as a mischievous call. I will not layan (heed) such calls,” he told reporters here when asked about such calls.
On Monday, former deputy minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah challenged Khalid to detain Dr Mahathir, whom Datuk Seri Najib Razak accused of being the mastermind behind a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report accusing him of corruption.
In a report on Friday, the WSJ, citing documents from Malaysian investigators, claimed that a money trail showed that US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) was moved from 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) into Najib’s accounts. - Malay Mail
