MALAYSIA IN SHOCK: Calls ring out for Najib's blood after billions 'found' in his personal bank accounts

MALAYSIA IN SHOCK: Calls ring out for Najib's blood after billions 'found' in his personal bank accounts
KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysians who heard the shocking that BILLION - not just millions - of 1MDB-linked money were traced to Prime Minister Najib Razak's personal bank accounts are livid and making their views known across Twitter.
Stumped at the sensational news, red-hot anger quickly took over when it dawned on them that Najib, the PM since 2009, has been anything but honest over the entire RM42 billion 1MDB financial scandal.
Calls are ringing out for his immediate resignation and for his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin to take over and oversee a thorough probe.
'No wonder PM said he was depressed'
Under tremendous pressure but refusing to step down, perhaps Najib had a premonition of what was to come. Just last night, he publicly admitted he was 'depressed' - an unusual admission especially for top politicians who are only too conscious of the need to appear 'all-convincing'.
"I am depressed, politicians are depressed because we are easy targets...we must seek the truth, that's all I ask, and be fair," Najib said at a breaking fast event with the media. Related Story: NAJIB PLAYS THE SYMPATHY CARD: Be fair to me, 'depressed' PM tells media
The PM's comment raised eyebrows and elicited a barrage of questions from his critics. "Will Najib start being fair to all Malaysians and start answering the thousand-and-one questions about the 1MDB scandal?" responded Opposition politician Lim Kit Siang.
Umno supreme council has lost credibility, Mahathir & Muhyiddin must lead the charge
All eyes are now on ex-prime minister Mahathir Mohamad to lead the charge against Najib. Despite the alleged financial shenanigans, Najib still holds sway in the top-decision making council at his Umno party.
"We can expect the Umno supeme council to play 'bodoh' (act stupid) and try to cover up for their boss for as long as they by accusing the media and the Opposition of concocting wild lies. But I think the stage has been reached where even the supreme council no longer has credibility and something or someone must give way." MP for Batu Tian Chua told Malaysia Chronicle.
"Perhaps Mahathir will have to lead Umno chiefs into doing the right thing, and so should Muhyiddin. Otherwise Najib will carry on as usual as though it's perfectly fine for a man of his level to have millions channeled to accounts opened in his personal name. The banks involved too must be ordered to confirm the information in the press, because public interest is involved. The banks must not be influenced into acting against the whistle-blowers and using secrecy laws to punish those who stuck their heads out for the people, while allowing the culprits to cart public money away from the country to all over the world."

Wow! No wonder PM said he was depressed yesterday.
Allegations in WSJ & SR were too serious to be dismissed by a simple denial. Najib must step aside to show he has no fear of being probed.

Ministers are wealthy too ; hence lack of interest from them on 1Mdb and Najib. Of course all these moneys are not for personal use
Nik Nazmi is spot on. More apt 1 Sapu Malaysia than 1 Malaysia. I dont think we ever had a PM who is richer than Najib.

I am waiting to see if any Ministers will come out and defend the Prime Minister now. Who will be the first?
